ABOUT HANS

Hans Bucher is a singer-songwriter who writes about our deepest callings and longings in life. He was born in Kalimantan Indonesia, in a Jungle hospital, where his love for nature was first inspired. His family moved back to the states and he grew up in Pennyslvania and Virginia. At the age of 12 he discovered guitar and quickly began writing songs, which were poetic expressions of his inner world at that time. He had a love for acoustic music and listened primarily to many folk musicians Ani Difranco, Woodie Guthrie, Bob Dylan and many more. When he was 17 he had an experience of his mind stopping and his heart opening while looking at nature in his backyard. This blossomed into a love for meditation, awakening, conciousness, and came across his spiritual teacher Gangaji online. Around that time he traveled to Asia, revisiting where he was born with his family. After that trip he was drawn to a community Pacha Mama in Costa Rica where he learned to sing devotional music to nature and life.

When he returned to the states he decided to move to Santa Fe, an old favorite, to study massage and met his life partner Pi there. It was during these years that he wrote many of his songs. These songs are about awakening, consciousness, love, rebirth, healing, and mother nature. “When I have a moving spiritual experience or inquiry, I am often moved to create a song, somehow the chords and rhythm come and then words flow effortlessly really without thought”. This sacred experience for Hans has inspired him to share his music at spiritual centers, satsangs, singing circles, and art openings. He has played the role of hospice nurse for the last 7 years and he has shared songs for patients and colleagues alike.
